Payment Deferred is one of the great melodramas in the literature of the theater, a dark portrait of a very simple man and his wife involved in very simple circumstances which lead unfortunately to a not so simple crime, murder. Charles Laughton reprises the principle character, Will Marble, from his 1931 Broadway stage and 1932 motion picture performance.
