The story of General James Oglethorpe, the founder of the colony of Georgia.

Our story begins in London, early in the year 1729. In a house at Westminster, Lady Oglethorpe is seated before a fireplace, when her servant very grandly announces the arrival of the Lady's son, James. They are soon joined by Anne Castelle who pleads with James to help her husband Bob who has been incarcerated in a debtors prison. After seeing the appalling conditions inside the jails, and as a Member of Parliament, and social reformer, he raised the idea in parliament that Britain's poor and debtors should be released from prison and resettled in the New World.
