Thunder crashed, jagged streaks of lightning cut across the sky, and a torrential wind-driven rain swept the trail to Fairfield.  Nate Bragg and his men had taken cover under an overhang and they were preparing to make a temporary camp, when suddenly, during one of the flashes from the sky, Nate saw a solitary figure on the trail... He was no cowhand.
