When her ring goes missing from her bedroom during a party that she is giving Rita Kildare locks all her guests in and gives the thief the opportunity to return the ring anonymously by turning all the lights out and counting to one hundred. If the ring is not placed on the table she threatens to phone the police and have everyone searched.
