While Lamont Cranston and Margo are at a gathering of a musical recital by Edward Milan at the mansion of Harriett Hamilton famous actress Jennifer Gaye, who Mrs Hamilton says was not invited to the party, falls against the outside window and dies. It looks as though she has been brutally beaten and Lamont declares that she has been murdered. Discovering which one of the part guests has killed Jennifer Gaye is a job for the Shadow.
