A man murders his wife or so the police think but George Valentine can’t figure out how he could possibly have done it in the short time for which he doesn’t have an alibi. Valentine suspects an accomplice, Jim Grayson the man who lives next door in his rooming house but he can’t tell anything now because he’s dead. Maybe Lou Jennings killed the man he hired to kill his wife but George Valentine doesn’t think so. Somebody killed Ruth Jennings and somebody killed Jim Grayson, but who?
