The darkness of the deserted road was exaggerated by the shroud of trees lining wither side. Larry Simms bending over trying to fix the tyre on his car felt very much alone and he worked clumsily, impatiently. He straightened up at the sound of another car approaching very fast. Suddenly the other car swerved in toward him and he leaned back just in time. He tried to get a glimpse of the car, its driver and its licence plates but the car with its lights off was quickly swallowed up in the night and all that Larry knew for certain was that somebody had followed him and deliberately tried to kill him…
