Paula Richards and her husband have been told that she will never be avble to bear a child so Paula Richards aged 24 put her future in the hands of an old fortuneteller and dealer in the macabre who told her one thing she must add about their arrangement.

The fortune-teller told Paula that on the birth of her child she would demand one favor and that she must promise to grant it. She told Paula that she would ask it when the child was born. She would not say what it was only that it would be a very small favor. She warned Paula that if she did decide to bargain with her she must be ready to keep her part of it.
