Sanga Rainsford, the celebrated hunter, has been shipwrecked. After swimming towards an island he thought was uninhabited, he reaches the shore and collapses on the beach. He awakes some time later in a bed in the castle owned by General Zaroff. The General is also a hunter, but a hunter of a very different kind.
