Mimic Murder Case

The case that District Attorney Markham was working on is over because he withdrew charges against Albert Payne a man he believed was guilty. He did so at the request of Philo Vance, a request made to him on the telephone while the trial was in progress. Vance however has not been seen for sometime and when he does turn up having been knocked out he tells Markham that he hasn’t made any calls to him.
