Old Dave Knox and his daughter, Daisy, were within five days of the rail head when they neared the trail town of Clinton Springs with their herd of one thousand steers. Behind them were three hundred hot miles of dust, hardship and hostile Indians, and the old man breathed easier as he called for a halt, and prepared to make camp. Soon they'd be able to get the steers aboard a steam train headed east, and were expecting $20 a head for the beef. There was just the tricky part of keeping the cowhands away from the bright lights of the trail town to contend with - which would leave the prime beef herd unattended...
