Mavis Cameron was one of thousands of American business girls, a filing clerk in the 5th National Bank in Chicago. At 25 Mavis was rather pretty and had a pleasing singing voice she also loved the spotlight. Naturally she found bank work a little dull. Even that night when Mavis and four other girls from the bank had dinner in the dinning room at the fashionable Park Wilson Hotel it seemed a little dull until the after dinner coffee was served. Then the emcee of the floorshow asked Mavis to sing a number and she felt better. She felt still better at the outburst of applause following the conclusion of her number so much better she decided to call in to the Park Wilson fashionable bar, make a phone call and have a nightcap before going homeā€¦
