The terrific, century-old operetta, Martha, is recreated for the Chicago Theater of the Air today. The opera tells the story of Lyonel, a young farmer who falls in love with Martha, a beautiful but penniless maid. Martha is forced to leave her home to work as a servant in the house of a wealthy family. Lyonel follows her, but he is mistaken for a nobleman and becomes engaged to the family's daughter, Julia. Meanwhile, Martha's friend Nancy falls in love with Plunkett, a rich but miserly farmer.
