Chester has been writing to a lady whose details he got out of an ad in a St Louis the newspaper and now she has come from St Louis to Dodge expecting him to marry her. However he didn’t tell her the whole truth about himself and wants Matt to get him out of it, mainly because he sent her Matt’s photograph. But Bertha isn't interested in the whole truth about Chester only in getting her hands on his money.
