It’s a terrible shock when Max a private detective sees the man he was hired to follow in the company of the girl he loves. He has never liked surprises and this one is almost too much to bear. He leaves the nightclub, waits outside his mind spinning with hatred and confusion. Then he leaves and drives to the apartment building where Barbara lives and goes straight to her apartment on the second floor. He enters using a master key and walks across the living room to wait for her to return. When she finally enters the room with Bradley Townsend Max kills him with the gun he took from Mrs Townsend earlier to prevent her from doing anything stupid.
