Lum is looking at buying buy a new house as he is going to ask Rowena to marry him. Being a bachelor and thinking about his friend Abner, Lum is now feeling that he has missed out on thirty years of married bliss. When he tells Abner that, Abner replies, "yeah, me too!"  Another funny line comes when Lum says to Aner that the thing he has always envied the most is that when he goes home there's someone always waiting for him at the end of the gate and Abner replies, Oh it is, especially when she licks my face, wags her tail and barks."

Toward the end of 1948 the continuous story daily episodes of Lum and Abner (my favorites) were replaced with a new 30-minute sit-com show in front of a live audience complete with a full orchestra and sometimes some other cast members.
