Philip loves having fun with his family but then the pressure of work and a little too much drink leads him to have a nervous breakdown. He spends six months of rest in a sanatorium and when he is fully recovered is looking forward to playing McNamara’s Band with his two young boys again and returning to a normal saner life. However his wife’s own anxieties for his well-being make his return home the long way round.
