On the wild and lawless frontier of the early western United States, a man's life often depended on the quickness of his draw. Outlaws robbed and plundered the honest ranchers and miners, and no man's property was safe. In the new territory, might never have become civilized if it had not been for the masked rider of the plains. 

As we join today's story, an old man, known throughout the hill country as 'Lonesome' is aiming a rifle through the window of his tumble-down shack. Crouched beside him is Sheriff Rankins, and outside taking shelter among the surrounding trees are four hooded outlaws, who are there to steal a map heard about in local stories - a map which shows where Lonesome has hidden all of his gold...
