Thomas Raeburn Morgan was a respectable family man who ran a legitimate stockbroker business. However 25 years ago when he was young and naive he got involved in a stock market swindle with a man named Henry Wolf. Thomas had kept a list of the names of all the people they had swindled and over the years had made complete restitution for his part in the affair. But now Wolf was blackmailing him by threatening to reveal the swindle if he didn’t pay him a large sum of money.
