The songs of Gloria Jean in this broadcast really are a little bit of heaven, but the story itself is of a twelve year old girl who becomes an overnight sensation. Midge lives in the tenements of New York, and happens onto a street broadcast of a radio quiz show, and is hired to a big bucks contract, which allows her and her family to move into a posh new home, with all of the usual problems which accompany sudden wealth.
