Newlyweds Caroline and Charles Baker are only sixteen and eighteen years old when they head west to make a home in the vast wilderness near to the Canadian border. They were very poor and had nothing with them but a few domestic articles in their covered wagon. But they work hard, and at first their new life is full of promise, especially after a baby is born.
