Let Us Consider The Record

Broadcast: November 27, 1938
Added: Nov 29 2020

In his Sunday afternoon social justice address from Royal Oak, Michigan devout Christian, anti-communist, pro-American Father Charles Coughlin justifies his Speech of the the previous week which received many complaints in a vicious campaign of misrepresentation.

He ends by saying, "May we Americans not engage in unreasonable reprisals against any nation. Let charity be the norm of our conduct and let justice for all be our guiding star."

Interesting to note that no newspaper would print this talk and (free) copies of the transcript were only available direct from Father Coughlin.

At the very end of the program a station announcement says that Father Coulghlin has "uttered mistakes of facts" and that WMCA wishes to reiterate it's position that the views expressed by Father Coughlin are his own and do not necessarily reflect the views of the station.

Whether you agree with his oft controversial opinions at least it was aired and folks could make their own conclusions!
