Leona was laughing now and for newspaper columnist Philip Dane there was no joy in it any more. He used her and when she went hysterical and insulted him he hit her, several times till she fell down dead. No one had seen him there and he left no trace behind so expected to get away with it. On his way home he stopped in a vaudeville club and the next act was billed as  Malbrino and Mia. Mia had the power to see what Malbrino held his hands despite being blind but when he held something up this time she could not see it because all she could sense was darkness between her and the object and she knew there was a murderer in the room.
