A war party of Indians, their bodies glistened with oil, wore paint streaking their chests and faces, and danced at the edge of a clearing that surrounded a sturdy block house. They were careful not to get too close to the rifles which gleamed from narrow slits in the peeled logs. Occasionally, one brave would yell, rush forward and let fly an arrow. Then dart back to shelter. Inside the block house, Captain Kilburn turned to his second-in-command to explain why they can still not open fire. They are waiting for money to arrive, to pay for the land the Indians agreed to sell to the government, but it has been delayed - which explains the Indian's appearance...
