The funeral of Sheriff Dawn was marked by various emotions. Jim Blake, the youthful publisher of the Bugle, was sure he knew who had murdered the Sheriff of Red Rock, and was determined to see the killers brought to justice. Tom Kennedy and his daughter, Mary, who worked for Blake, knew they had lost one of their best friends. But there were others - three influential men - whose power in Red Rock had been increasing, who breathed deep sighs of relief when the Sheriff's death was announced.
