Bill gets an emergency call out to a forest fire in the middle of the night - but this is the life of the forest ranger. In this case, all of the men of the town are being roused out because in the opinion of the ranger in tower 7, the fire is a bad one and must be contained and squelched as quickly as possible. So, in the middle of the night the butcher, baker, doctor, lawyer - all of the men of the town have to leave their warm beds and half a nights sleep to fight a roaring monster. Most of the men take this emergency call in fine spirit, all except one man - who is in fact, a Ranger himself!
