The Silver Slipper café was the gayest spot in forty miles. It was there that all the prospectors and trappers gathered in the evenings to forget their troubles. One reason the Silver Slipper was so popular was the presence of Annette Dusel a French singer and entertainer whose brother Paul helped managed the café. All the men vied for Annette’s favors.
