The crime situation in the united States today is one which gives pause even to the most optimistic among us for the records gathered in the past twelve months by the FBI show that not only were more crimes committed last year than the year before, an increase that placed major crimes over the million six hundred thousand   mark, but also saw a greater number of repeaters arrested.
