In a few days time, they'll be inducting the new vice president of the United States. As he takes his solemn oath of office, standing as he does, one heartbeat away from the presidency, he'll be filled with a tremendous sense of responsibility, and humbled that his party and the nation chose him, and not somebody else. Because if you remember, back at the convention, they were mentioning all sorts of other candidates. There was even talk of nominating a woman, Senator Sarah Stewart, and ever since there had been all sorts of rumors about what really happened in Chicago.
