The stage from St Louis rolled along the trail to Leeton. Dan Reid, the young nephew of the Lone Ranger, had taken the stage from Fort Davis after spending a few days with his friends. The only other passenger was a young and beautiful girl, who had dozed most of the time since Dan had entered the coach. As they neared Leeton, she looked at Dan closely, smiled and spoke to him.
