Knickerbocker Holiday

Broadcast: 30th December 1945
Added: Dec 31 2011
Knickerbocker Holiday is a musical play about New York some 300 years ago. In it the author is having a little fun with history gently kidding some of New York’s Dutch forefathers among whom you’ll note there was, even then, a Roosevelt and a Vanderbilt and of course the Roosevelt was in politics. You all know that in them days the Dutch purchased Manhattan Island from the Indians for about $24!

Walter Huston both acts and sings the part of Governor Peter Styevusant, which he played in the original Braodway production.

Directed by: Lawrence Langner
