This is a stirring drama of the first battle against dictatorship in the new world and the fight to the finish. Tristram Coffin was the first of Nantucket's Coffins and the islands' chief magistrate who arrived in Nantucket in 1651. By the mid 1670s he was ruling the roost and he let the power go to his head.
