A boxer known as The Kid is killed in the ring as he is fighting Tony Fresco another pugilist. Blackie and Mary witness the killing on television and in an effort to find out The Kid’s enemies Blackie talks to Red Cauley, veteran sports writer. Blackie and Inspector Faraday learn of The Kid’s run in with gambler Johnny Grant and also find out that The Kid’s trainer was stealing from him.
