Katherine Hepburn is the Mistress of Ceremonies, and opens the show by introducing the man with the battered top hat, Ted Lewis who reads out some of the messages received from the forces overseas. He then begins the entertainment, by singing the Happy Birthday lyrics received from Captain Aaron Merkel, written for a girl called Butch. He then sings Relax, before Katherine introduces the Jesters, who sing She Lived Next Door to a Firehouse.
