John Bernard cousin to Jim Williams in court for the killing of his wife said that he had seen Jim kill his wife but now in court he claims to have been a victim of police torture. Bernard said that Inspector Faraday had beaten him into testifying against his cousin. Now Inspector Faraday has gone to Blackie for help. He needs to know what made John Bernard lie in court.
