This is the story of a very remarkable man and a great American. Born a British subject, he took a leading part in the foundation of our country, for it was he who was largely responsible for securing the election of George Washington as Commander in Chief. It was he who became the United States minister to Holland and England, and finally, as an accumulation of a long career in the service of his country, he became Vice President, and then President.
