When the west was a youngster there were very few ladies to be seen in the cow towns or on the scattered homesteads dotting the open plains. But where men go their women follow and by the early 1870’s calico was a common sight in Arizona. This fact led United States Marshall Wild Bill Hickok to a surprising discovery one day when suddenly he learned that the deputy at his side was actually Jingles the “ladies man”.
