Captain Mendosa had a treasure map, which he agreed to sell to Jean Harling the daughter of a wealthy banker. When she arrived at his lodgings she entered his room to find Mendosa dead. Afraid she fled but was spotted by another resident and later when she came forth she finds herself as defendant in the murder case.
