The Ivory Murder Case began in Africa but culminated here with the killing of Joe Hillary knifed to death in his small workshop under impossible conditions. Philo Vance knows that Tom Duncan Hillary’s partner in the ivory hunt disappeared in Africa and that Duncan’s wife wasn’t too concerned. From Hillary’s secretary Donna Fenton they found out that Tongo an African native had threatened Hillary.
