The town of Hunter's Bend was celebrating. The Short Line rail road known as the Cascading Northern had just been completed, and Hunter's Bend was it's northern terminus. Jonathan Blair, the divisional superintendent of the new railroad, was celebrating a little more than most, because people had said that it couldn't be built, and he'd showed them! Suddenly, a tall, lean figure came walking towards the group addressed by Blair, and the men fell silent. Even Jonathan Blair, flushed with triumph, eyed the approaching figure nervously. Kirk had come to tell them that he had been hearing his voices again. The voices told him that the railroad would only bring death and destruction to the territory. The men may call the railroad the iron Horse, but Kirk has a more appropriate name for it. The Iron Hearse! 

The people of Hunter's Bend had always been disposed to smile at Kirk Masters and his talk of voices, but on this occasion they took him more seriously than usual... Tonto had been there when Kirk had shared his visions, and he hurried back to the nearby camp to share the story with the Lone Ranger.
