Mr Prescott comes to Sherlock Holmes as an emissary of Groznia and requests his greatest service. There is now an international committee of powers meeting at The Hague trying to decide if the royalist right should control Groznia or if Prescott’s party should. Prescott feels that his life is in danger and asks to stay with Holmes.
