Mary Taber had been captured by the Cheyenne Indians and then sold to the Arapaho. Her father paid a lot of money to the cavalry to rescue her however the Indian who bought her, Two Eagles truly loved her and followed her. Mary didn’t know whether it was best to go home with the cavalry or to stay with the man who loved her.
