An Irish play from the man of many voices, Frank O'Connor. The story opens at a railway station in Dublin, where passengers and cargo are being loaded onto the train, ready for its departure. The story centers around a group of Southern Irish villagers, and their behavior toward an accused murderer in their midst, as they all return homeward by train from the Dublin criminal court. They have all conspired to prevent the woman's conviction, planning to punish her in the manner of their own ancient community, being that they are so opposed to the law of the state.
