Biggles establishes that Von Stahlein has been using a double to impersonate him, and that he's connected with an unsavory character called Napoleon Morgan. That night, Ginger and Bertie are strolling through the Kingston slums, hoping to see something of Morgan or his confederates. A noisy old car rattles by, momentarily drowning their voices, and when Bertie turns to Ginger, he discovers that he has disappeared into thin air!
