Well Squire Skimp managed to nullify any positive effects that Lum and Abner's political broadcast over the telephone party line by inviting everyone in town to a free ice cream social at his own party HQ in the lodge hall. In as much as there was no other available place in which to hold a political rally the new Broom party so far has been unable to reach the voters with any degree of effectiveness.
