San Francisco in September and Frank Race had been enticed by the aroma into a fresh bakery when a hand touched his arm. It was Tom Crowell who used to work for Manhattan Insurance Company and had saved Frank’s life on the Lambert Case with some pretty fast shooting. He left the company to go private eye and was on a job at the moment but had gotten in to a jam. He was been followed carrying a package and was in a dead end, the two assailants entered the bakery and a fight ensued.
