Chester confesses that one year ago he murdered Miss Dorothy Fulman as he drew the high card and he announces he will be dead by midnight. Only George Valentine knows that Dorothy Fulman’s murder case has never been solved. There were four suspects but the police have despaired of ever finding who her murderer was. Mrs Aimes was worried about the strange behaviour of her husband and more recently four men have been playing cards in the back card room of the local club and the steward says that the deck of cards is marked.
