Henry receives a letter from a friend of Nancy Adams who lives in Abbot City. Myrtle Drinkwater had seen a photograph of Henry in Nancy’s yearbook and decided to write to him and invite him to the Abbott City masquerade ball. She writes and tells him she will phone him and just when he is expecting the call his mother sends him on an errand. Henry’s strange behaviour leads his parents to believe he is involved with a lending company.
