The huge and sprawling Queensland Estate settled far back in the Bellaire Hills was dark and quiet. Suddenly the stillness of the night was shattered with the sound of a pistol shot. Kirk Gordon wearing a trench coat his hat pulled down low clutched a small bag in his hand as he rushed from the house. He seemed to hesitate for a moment and then started sprinting across the broad lawn toward the main gate. The caretaker completing his evening round had whirled around at the shot and seeing the fleeing figure on the lawn hurried quickly to intercept him…
