This is the unique story of Dr Ulysses Grant Daily and Dr Daniel Hale Williams, who were among the first surgeons to perform successful sutures on the human heart. They were the pioneers of heart surgery.

The story begins with a man who was attacked on the beach whilst he was watching the sunrise on the morning after he was paid his wages. When he refused to hand the money over, it became a physical struggle and he felt a pain hitting his chest, like a needle stabbing straight in and back out. At the hospital, the doctor decides to go against all he has been taught, and attempt to repair the man's injured heart...
